It has taken me a couple of days to get this up and for that I apologise to Christine and Doreen.
On Thursday evening we had the European Innovative Education Forum gala dinner where this year’s winning teachers were announced. As is always the case, there was a palpable sense of excitement and energy in the air.
When the winners were finally announced Ireland came through with flying colours again. We had 2 of the top 12 winning places!!
Christine Murphy-Gardner’s entry of “Extending Communities” won 1st Runner-up in the “Extending Learning Beyond the Classroom” category

It was really great to see these projects recognised for their innovation and creativity. Both Christine and Doreen will now be competing in the Worldwide Partners in Learning Forum in Washington DC in November, so watch this space. The project from Cathal O’Connell was also outstanding. This is the 5th year in a row that Ireland has had teachers competing in the worldwide competition and I think that says something very positive about the standard of education we have on “our wee island”
I would also like to congratulate our friends from the UK subsidiary. They also had 2 winners who will be competing in Washington. They were:
Jennifer Blum for “Mobilising for London 2012” in the “Cutting Edge Use of Microsoft Technology” category
Gareth Ritter for “Interactive Resources” in the “Innovation in Challenging Context” category
It was a memorable and exciting event for everyone who had the privilege of attending. here are a few more photos.
